Inspired by the character Quentin Compson in Faulkner's novel The Sound and Fury. A twisted, cool book, but I don't suggest reading it for entertainment. I had to read it for school.

I'll break my shadow
As I tread on my watch.
Or--time follows me
And my shadow is ticking away.
No--shadows fly
And a drowned man's time
    Stares up at him from the water.
Still shackled to the shadows...
If only I could grind time to dust beneath my feet.
